Alton is not seen as a safe community. If elected I will create a community engagement committee focusing on safety, crime prevention, and strategies to promote pride and trust in our law enforcement community.

This committee will be comprised of members of the civic, youth, law enforcement, education and faith communities.

I will work with our police chief to establish

Leading the department with integrity and accountability
Establishing 21^st century Community policing strategies to improve the community and police relations
Building a strong bridge between the minority community and the police department
Prioritizing the recruitment of African Americans. Women and other minorities
Establishing a true partnership and relationship with the residents of public housing

Dear Friends,

I would like to take a moment to thank you for your continued support. I am truly honored to have served as Mayor of Alton for over 2 years now.

With that said, Sheila and I are delighted to announce plans for the 2nd annual Mayor’s Charity and Fundraiser Ball. The Ball will be held again at The Commons on the campus of Lewis and Clark Community College. The theme of this year’s Ball is “A Night In Disguise” and we are looking forward to an evening of purpose, and fun!

With your help, Friends for David Goins will donate a portion of the proceeds to the Overnight Warming Center of Alton. The Overnight Warming Center provides food and shelter for the unhoused when the outside temperatures fall to dangerous levels.

Last year’s Motown Magic Charity Ball was a rousing success, and you can expect more of the same at this year’s event.
